Bathroom Tiler in Joondalup

Tiling is where Ben started, and he still lays every tile on our jobs. Straight lines, even grout joints and shower floors that drain.

A Bathroom Tiler Who Runs the Whole Job

Most renovation companies subcontract their tiling. At Scope, the tiler is the owner. Ben has spent his career tiling bathrooms across Perth's northern suburbs, so the person who quotes your job is the same person setting out your walls and floor. Tiling is part of all our bathroom renovations in Joondalup, and we also take on tiling jobs on their own, from a single shower to a full retile.

How We Tile a Bathroom

The steps that decide whether tiling lasts or starts failing in a few years

1

Check the Substrate

Tiles are only as good as what's under them. We check that walls and floors are flat, sound and dry before anything goes on.

2

Waterproof First

In wet areas, the waterproofing membrane goes on and cures properly before tiling starts. Rushing this step is behind most leaking showers.

3

Plan the Set-Out

We work out where the cuts will land, so you don't end up with thin slivers at a doorway or a crooked line across the shower wall.

4

Lay, Grout and Seal

Tiles go down with consistent joints, floors are graded towards the waste, and grout and silicone are finished neatly.

Common Bathroom Tiling Problems

Drummy or Cracked Tiles

Hollow-sounding tiles usually mean the adhesive has let go. Left alone, they crack and let water in behind them. We lift and replace them and check the tiles around them while we're there.

Leaking Showers

Water stains on the other side of a shower wall, or floor tiles lifting nearby, often point to failed waterproofing. Retiling alone won't fix it, so we strip back, have the area re-waterproofed and retile it properly.

Tired, Dated Tiles

Old border tiles and stained grout date a bathroom faster than anything else. Retiling the walls and floor can change the whole room without moving any plumbing. For a bigger refresh that includes the vanity and fixtures, see our partial bathroom renovations.

Bathroom Tiling FAQs

Do you take on tiling-only jobs?
Yes. As well as full renovations, Ben takes on bathroom tiling work such as retiling a shower, replacing damaged tiles or retiling a floor. Call to talk through the job and we'll tell you straight away if it's a good fit.
Are you a licensed tiler?
Yes. Ben is a licensed tiler and Scope Bathroom Renovations is fully insured.
Can you replace just a few cracked tiles?
Usually, yes. If you kept spare tiles from the original job, we can often swap them in. If not, we'll help you find the closest match or suggest retiling a section so the repair doesn't stand out.
Does the waterproofing need redoing before a shower is retiled?
If the shower is leaking or tiles are coming away, almost always. New tiles over failed waterproofing will leak again. We check the condition before quoting and tell you what's needed.
Can I supply my own tiles?
Yes. Plenty of clients choose their own tiles. We'll give you quantities and advice on adhesive and grout before you buy, then handle the installation.
