Complete Bathroom Renovations Perth

A full gut and rebuild, design to handover, with every trade managed under one roof. No coordinating. No stress. One phone call to Ben.

Is This the Right Service?

When You Need a Complete Renovation

Not every bathroom needs a full gut. Here's when a complete renovation is clearly the right call.

Your Bathroom is Dated

If your bathroom was built in the 80s or 90s and has never been renovated, a partial update won't get you far. The waterproofing is past its useful life, the layout was designed around products that no longer exist, and any attempt to patch it will be constrained by what's already there. Starting from scratch gives you a better result and costs less than two rounds of partial work.

You Want to Change the Layout

Moving the shower, removing a bath, widening a doorway: these changes can only happen in a complete renovation. Once you're pulling up floors and opening walls to move plumbing, you may as well do the waterproofing, tiling, and fixtures from scratch. Partial renovations can't accommodate layout changes without becoming a complete renovation anyway.

You Suspect Water Damage

Soft flooring, mould smell, stains appearing in adjacent rooms, grout that keeps cracking: these are signs water has been getting behind tiles for a while. A complete renovation strips everything out so the extent of the damage can be properly assessed and fixed. There's no point tiling over a problem that will reappear in two years.

Design Freedom

Your Bathroom, Built the Way You Want It

A complete renovation isn't just about replacing old with new. It's the only time you get to make decisions about everything: layout, materials, fixtures, as a cohesive whole, unconstrained by what was there before.

Layout changed to suit how you actually use the space
Tiles, fixtures and fittings selected together as a design
Shower size, vanity position, storage: all reconsidered
Waterproofing done properly from scratch
Every decision made with 30 years of experience to guide it

“The whole experience from start to finish was faultless. Ben was professional, gave great ideas, and had excellent communication.”

How It Works

What a Complete Renovation Actually Involves

Seven stages, all coordinated by one person. Here's what happens at each one, and why sequence matters.

Step 1

Full Demolition

Everything comes out: tiles, fixtures, old waterproofing, the lot. Unlike a partial renovation that works around existing elements, a complete renovation starts with a clean slate. Demolition also reveals the true condition of the substrate and any hidden water damage before new work begins.

Step 2

Plumbing Rough-In

This is where layout decisions become permanent. If the shower is moving, the toilet is relocating, or you're converting from bath to shower, it happens at rough-in. New pipes are run to match the design, waste positions are set, and everything is pressure tested before walls go back. Once this stage is locked in, the rest of the renovation follows it.

Step 3

Electrical

New or upgraded circuits for lighting, exhaust fans, heated towel rails, and power points. All work done to current Australian Standards and tested before proceeding. In a complete renovation we can position everything fresh: lights over the vanity, exhaust in the right location, no compromises from existing cable runs.

Step 4

Waterproofing from Scratch

This is the single biggest advantage of a complete renovation over a partial one. With a full gut, waterproofing is applied to a clean substrate, with no guessing about what the previous membrane looked like or whether it was applied correctly. Multiple coats, proper drying times between each, full coverage of all required areas. Checked before a single tile goes down.

Step 5

Tiling

With the full space cleared and the layout set from scratch, the tile selection and layout can be optimised for the room, with no constraints from existing work. Tiles set level and square, cuts centred and consistent, grout lines that run through the space properly. This is where decades of tiling experience makes a visible difference.

Step 6

Fixtures and Fittings

Vanity, toilet, taps, shower screen, towel rails: all chosen together as part of the design, not fitted around what was already there. Everything installed to specification and tested before the job is called done. No fixture in a complete renovation is an afterthought.

Step 7

Final Handover

Painting, silicone sealing, full cleanup. A complete walkthrough where we go through everything together, and we won't call it done until you're completely satisfied with every detail. Your bathroom, finished exactly as agreed.

Why Scope

What Makes Us Different

Owner-Operated, Not a Volume Business

Ben runs every job himself. Scope doesn't take on more projects than it can manage, which means your renovation gets the attention it needs at every stage. You're not one of fifty jobs in a queue.

Honest About Scope Before You Commit

If your bathroom only needs a partial renovation, we'll tell you. If we think a complete renovation is the better long-term decision, we'll explain why and let you make the call. No upselling work that isn't needed.

30 Years of Tiling Behind Every Job

The tiling is done by Ben, not subcontracted out. Three decades of experience means the finish is consistent, the layout is considered, and the quality of the work reflects the investment you've made.

Flexible on How You Work With Us

Source your own tiles and fixtures, or have us handle everything. Either way works. We can also split the project around your schedule if you need to stay in the house throughout. We work around your situation, not the other way around.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a complete bathroom renovation include?
A complete renovation covers everything from your initial design consultation through to final handover. That means demolition, plumbing rough-in, electrical work, waterproofing, tiling, fixture installation, painting, sealing, and final cleanup. One person coordinates all the trades and manages the entire project, so you don't need to deal with anyone else.
How long does a complete bathroom renovation take in Perth?
Most complete renovations run 3 to 4 weeks from demolition to handover. The timeline is set by the sequence of trades: plumbing before waterproofing, waterproofing before tiling, and so on. Cutting corners on drying times or trade sequencing is how problems show up later. You get a detailed schedule at the start so you know exactly what's happening each week.
How much does a complete bathroom renovation cost in Perth?
It depends on the size of your bathroom, the fixtures and finishes you choose, and whether any structural changes are needed. We give you a detailed quote after visiting your property so you know exactly where you stand. No hidden costs, no surprises.
Can I supply my own tiles and fixtures?
Yes. In a complete renovation, sourcing your own tiles and fixtures is a good way to control costs or get exactly what you want. We'll give you a detailed materials list with quantities, and coordinate delivery so everything arrives when it's needed on site. If you'd rather we handle sourcing from start to finish, that works too.
What's the difference between a complete and partial renovation?
A complete renovation is a full gut and rebuild: everything comes out and goes back in new, including full waterproofing from scratch. A partial renovation updates specific elements while keeping others. If your bathroom has old waterproofing, a dated layout, or needs structural changes, a complete renovation is almost always the better long-term choice.
Do I need council approval for a bathroom renovation in Perth?
Most complete renovations within the existing footprint don't require council approval. Structural changes are the exception: removing load-bearing walls, adding skylights, or altering the external footprint. For apartments and units, strata approval is required regardless of scope. We go through all of this at the consultation and handle any paperwork needed.
What happens if problems are discovered during demolition?
It's not uncommon to find old water damage, incorrect plumbing, or structural concerns once walls are opened. We'll assess the situation, explain the options clearly, and provide transparent pricing for any additional work needed. Nothing proceeds without your approval.
How do I get started?
Call Ben directly on 0413 242 013 or fill in the contact form. We'll get back to you within 24 hours to arrange a site visit. At the visit we assess the space, talk through what you want from the renovation, and put together a detailed quote. No obligation.
